Who are we?

Art is Alive offers holistic art therapy workshops for children, youth and adults across Perth metropolitan and regional Western Australia.

CREATE and play. Unleash the inner 'maker' that we all have inside us and enjoy colourful self-expression.

CONNECT deeply with yourself, with community and with nature. Realise new truths and give a visual voice to what can not be expressed through words.

GROW into the ‘you’ you want to be.

Art is Alive is based on Whadjuk Noongar country and travels and operates on the lands of different First Nations groups across Western Australia, and pays respect to these traditional custodians and their ongoing relationship with spirit, culture and country. May we all commit to listening deeply and co-creating a more just future.

Sarah Wray , founder

Hi there, I’m Sarah :)

I’m a transpersonal arts therapist, community worker and visual artist based in Perth WA.

I love how creativity is an explosion of life.

Making art makes you feel alive! It gives you the tingles, awakens the senses - and just as we breathe life into our creative expressions, they breath life back into us.

Art is a fabulous teacher and there is always something to learn during the process of art-making. Mostly, it teaches us about ourselves.

I am passionate about using creative expression as a tool for connection - to bring people closer to themselves, closer to their community and closer to their environment.

A little bit more about me:

I am a nature-lover and enjoy spending time outdoors exploring WA’s precious bushland. I am especially interested in how creative expression can support a shift in consciousness as it relates to our relationship with the natural world, on an individual and collective level. I get very excited about the intersection of nature therapy and art therapy and hope to work more in this space in the future.

Sustainable art practices

We only have one home and we want to do our best to care for it!

Here at Art is Alive we believe that art-making doesn't have to be wasteful. There is such magnificent power and joy in a therapeutic process that is able to support our own healing alongside that of Mother Earth’s. We can care for ourselves, while caring for our planet.

Art is Alive is committed to minimising our environmental impact where possible, through purchasing limited new materials, prioritising sustainable and eco-friendly product alternatives, and repurposing items otherwise destined for landfill.

We understand that this is inevitably a journey, and we welcome all ideas and feedback about how we can continue to provide services that honour the love we have for our natural world. We are committed to continuous improvement, staying educated and remaining adaptive.
