ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Youth With HeART project began its journey in October 2020, funded by the charity Ski for Life (www.skiforlife.com.au) with the mission of mental health awareness and suicide prevention in regional Western Australia. Over 3 weeks, we worked with over 140 students and 15 school staff in 10 regional towns throughout the South-West, Great Southern, Peel and Wheatbelt regions, delivering Youth With HeART workshops.

Youth With HeART workshops empower students to express themselves and to start discussions about important aspects of mental health including self-care, positive and negative coping strategies, emotional awareness and resilience. Youth With HeART aims to foster meaningful connection for youth; with their inner self, with their peers, and with youth living in other regional towns.

Since its pilot in Oct 2020, the Youth With HeART project has continued to travel throughout regional WA, thanks to funding from various supporting bodies. We’re always looking for the next region to bring the Youth With HeART project to!

Testimonials:

Thank you very much for visiting us! It was a great workshop that the students were very engaged in and took a lot away. Keep up the wonderful workshops.

- Pauline Hughes, staff at Mount Barker Community College)

This workshop helped me understand more about how to deal with my emotions better and that there are always ways to cope.

The Youth With HeART workshop was a fantastic opportunity for students to reflect on their mental health, the struggles faced by many students their age and healthy coping strategies. Sarah facilitated an engaging session that was well targeted to the students who attended. A very important topic exploring resilience and so special to have the space to do so. Thank you so much.

- Ms Emily Gummer, staff at Denmark Senior High School

Sarah was well prepared for the workshop. The content and knowledge was well catered for the 14-15 year old group of adolescents. It gave the teenagers an opportunity to learn and look at coping strategies and self-care in a non-threatening environment.

- Maria de Lima, counsellor at Bunbury Catholic College

Loved it! Recommend for anyone struggling or in need to ground themselves or help others. Loved being able to express my creative personal side. Thanks again.

- student at Mount Barker Community College

WANT TO SUPPORT US?

Are you interested in supporting the Youth With HeART project and helping us to reach more young people in WA? We couldn’t make the Youth With HeART project happen if it weren’t for the generous support we receive.

We are always on the hunt for new sponsors and funding opportunities to be able to continue delivering Youth With HeART workshops and continue to support the mental health of students living regionally. We’d love to reach more and more of WA’s rural and remote communities, where mental health issues and suicide rates among young people are devastatingly high, and where communities are too often under-serviced.

If you think you can help us, please email hello@artisalive.com.au and let’s talk!

If you would like us to come to your school (metro or regional), register your interest by emailing hello@artisalive.com.au

We look forward to working with you!
